Before you arrive

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have dental or medical coverage, and a list of any medications you take. If you have records or x-rays from another office, bring those too, but you do not need them. We can take our own imaging. To save time, you can complete our new-patient forms before you come in.

Your visit, step by step

  1. Welcome and paperwork. We get you checked in and gather your health history. Tell us if you are nervous; it helps us take care of you.
  2. Imaging. We take a panoramic x-ray to see the whole picture, and a CBCT 3D scan when your treatment calls for it, so Dr. Mancin can see exactly what is happening below the surface.
  3. Your exam with Dr. Mancin. Dr. Mancin examines your mouth and walks through what he sees. He is good at explaining things in plain language. If you do not understand something, he will walk you through it.
  4. Your questions. Ask anything. Our motto is simple: there is no such thing as a stupid question. If you do not ask, you do not know. You will not get an eye-roll here.
  5. Your plan and exact price. You leave with a written treatment plan and a real cost, not a guess. If there are options, we lay out each one with its price so you can choose.
  6. The costs conversation. We go over insurance, what your medical coverage might pick up, and financing if you want it. Details are on our paying for dental care guide.

No judgment, ever

A lot of new patients tell us they put off the dentist because they were judged somewhere before, or they feel embarrassed about how their mouth looks. We hear it all the time, and we mean it when we say there is none of that here. Everybody has a story. You have a story. Once people hear that, they usually relax.

A real patient: Jennifer’s first visit

Jennifer called us hesitant. She wanted to give us her backstory before she even asked a question, because at other offices she had been judged badly, with an assistant rolling her eyes when she asked something. We told her the truth: that is not how it is here. She came in for her consult, we took her x-rays, Dr. Mancin did her exam, and she asked every question she had and got them all answered. She asked if she could get everything done in one day, and she could. She came back and did all her treatment at once, fillings and an extraction, under nitrous. She is a patient for life now, and she referred her fiance.

Comfort options

If you are nervous, you have choices. We offer nitrous oxide for light relaxation and IV sedation for deeper comfort, plus local numbing. You and Dr. Mancin decide together. Learn more on our sedation dentistry page.

Can I get treatment the same day?

Often, yes. If you have a fear of the dentist or you are traveling from out of town, ask us. We can frequently handle your consult and treatment efficiently so you are not making trip after trip. We see patients from Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, and Leawood, and from much farther when it matters. See the full range of care on our dental services page.

“My first job at a new patient’s visit is to listen. People come in carrying stories from other offices. Once they see we are not going to judge them, the rest gets easy. I tell them exactly what I see and exactly what it costs.”
